Link up Octopus AAVS with designated credit cards such as Citi Prestige Card and DBS Black World Mastercard to earn air miles for free air tickets, accommodation and rental services.
Enjoy welcome offers
You can top up your Octopus Wallet (previously called O! ePay) via NFC-enabled Android mobile devices or via an iOS mobile device paired up with an Octopus Mobile Reader in order to earn welcome offers.
After card issuance, cardholders are required to first sign up for AAVS first before reloading Octopus daily for transferring funds to Octopus Wallet (previously called O! ePay) account until meeting the minimum spending requirement for credit card welcome offers.
This is how it works. You reload your octopus daily and then transfer the reloaded amount to the Octopus Wallet. But do not stop there! Then, you can transfer the funds back to your bank account to repay your credit card debt. In this way, nothing actually comes out of your pocket, but your octopus which has been signed up for AAVS gets reloaded daily to earn rebate/ air miles from the card provider!
But you can only reload daily! And you can increase the daily limit to earn the most out of it!
Although it requires much effort, cardholders can get welcome offers with no extra cost.

How to apply for Octopus Automatic Add Value Service?
To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid credit card from a participating bank:
Choose your bank
The applicant can select one credit card from the list of recommended credit cards from the above. Things you may want to consider include the type of rewards (cash back or miles) and the reload amount.
Submit your application
Fill in your personal particulars on the application form and submit it to your chosen bank, which will then process your application.
Activate your AAVS
It takes 1-2 weeks to process your application. Once approved, an activation letter will be mailed to you. You can then activate your AAVS function in the Octopus App or with an Octopus PC Reader via the Internet.

Is Octopus Automatic Add Value Service (AAVS) available for all credit cards?
- No. You can only link up AAVS with designated credit cards such as the above selected credit cards recommended by MoneySmart such as Standard Chartered Simply Cash Visa Card, Citi Cash Back Card, Citi Prestige Card, etc.
Is there a fee for applying for AAVS?
- There is no fee for applying for AAVS. Instead, some banks provide applicants with welcome offers for applying for AAVS. For example, HSBC offers up to HK$200 spending rebates for customers who link up AAVS with HSBC credit cards before 31 Jan 2026.
How to activate AAVS upon successful application?
For Android users, the simplest way is to download Octopus App and activate the service on the applications. Or via an iOS mobile device paired up with an Octopus Mobile Reader. How can I change my AAVS from one bank to another?
To switch to a new bank, you just have to fill in and submit an application form to the newly designated bank. Please note that you will be required to pay a HK$20 handling fee.

- You can call Octopus Customer Service Hotline on 2266 2222 to cancel the AAVS. An authorisation letter for deactivating the AAVS function on your Octopus will be mailed to you accordingly. You are required to present this letter and your Octopus card to any MTR Customer Service Centre within 10 calendar days to cancel the AAVS.
