1. Medical expenses: no cap on the number of outpatient visits

Total overseas medical limit: The STARR TraveLead Luxe Extra Plan provides medical coverage of up to HK$1,000,000, covering overseas hospitalisation and outpatient treatment.

No outpatient limits: There is no sub-limit on outpatient expenses or the number of visits, giving travellers maximum flexibility.

Follow-up treatment in Hong Kong for up to 90 days: If treatment needs to continue after returning to Hong Kong, follow-up treatment coverage is available for up to 90 days.

2. Trip cancellation coverage

Coverage limit: The Extra Plan provides trip cancellation coverage of up to HK$30,000.

Scope of coverage: Within 30 days before departure, compensation is payable if the insured person, their immediate family member, travelling companion or business partner unfortunately dies, is injured or falls seriously ill, making it necessary to cancel the trip.

Expenses covered: Includes prepaid, non-refundable air tickets, transport tickets, accommodation costs and tour fees.

Special circumstances: Cancellation compensation is also provided if a natural disaster, strike or riot occurs at the destination within 1 week before departure.

Dedicated electronics coverage: Covers mobile phones, tablets, smartwatches and laptops in cases of theft, robbery or burglary.

Depreciation calculation: Compensation is calculated with depreciation deducted at 15% per year based on the age of the item since purchase.

Points to note: You must report to the local police within 24 hours of the incident and obtain a written report.

Is there an age limit for coverage under the STARR TraveLead Luxe Extra Plan?

There is no upper age limit for single-trip plans. However, for Accidental Death and Disablement, the limit is 50% of sum insured or up to a maximum of HK$500,000, whichever is lesser. For Medical Expenses, the 50% restriction applies only to persons aged over 70.

If the trip needs to be extended at short notice, will the insurance automatically cover it?

If the trip is delayed due to force majeure (such as a natural disaster or strike) beyond the insured person's control, the policy will automatically be extended free of charge for up to 7 days.

How do I make a claim?

Does the Extra Plan cover rental vehicle excess?
