Every bank collaborates with different restaurant groups and local restaurants to provide all year round dining offers. Take Standard Chartered credit cards as an example, you can get up to 10% off at Dining Concepts designated restaurants including BLT Steak, Bombay Dreams, maze Grill and Bizou American Brasserie etc.. For Hang Seng credit cards, you can enjoy all year round offers at Maxim’s Group (e.g. Maxim’s Palace, Jade Garden, and Maxim’s Cakes).
Apart from offers launched by banks, card issuers like Visa, Mastercard, and UnionPay have their own dining offers. For example, Visa Signature enjoys buffet 1-for-1 offer at selected hotels and UnionPay enjoys 5% off on Watami, Watei, and Kyo Watami.
Dining credit cards earn you not only air miles, cashback or reward points, but also different dining offers from bank-restaurant collaborations. Take Hang Seng credit cards as an example, you can get all year round discounts at Maxim's Caterers.
You can pick a credit card based on your habits and your favourite restaurants. Besides your preference, you should check cashbacks, spend requirements, conversion fees, and the Terms & Conditions of credit cards.
Most of the restaurants (e.g. fast food, restaurant chains, hotel restaurants and bars etc.) are eligible dining spending for credit cards. However, please note that some big dining purchases (e.g. hotel buffets, banquet service, private cocktail parties, and private events) and food courts in department stores and supermarkets are not counted as dining spending. It’s better for you to check with your credit card issuers beforehand.
If your credit cards have all year round dining offers, you usually don’t need to register in advance. However, you might need to register via phone or e-banking beforehand if the dining offers are time-limited. For some credit cards, you’re required to make a reservation and pay by your dining credit cards to get the offers.
Yes, you can! Simply check the banks’ requirements beforehand – some banks set a lower bar on annual salary and those dining credit cards are the best for you. Submitting your income proof increases your chances of getting approved, but you can still apply for those dining credit cards without supporting documents.
Yes, be aware of the Terms & Conditions. You may need to reach a minimum spend before getting dining offers of credit cards. Each restaurant has a different spending requirement. Some dining credit cards give you more rewards on festivals and weekends, such as BEA credit cards offer you 4.4% cashback for dining, retail and online spending on Saturday and Sunday. But make sure you check the caps and the expiry dates of dining credit cards’ points and cashbacks.
